Introduction:

A well-organized library is essential for teaching and learning process, especially when the emphasis is shifted from classroom teaching to learning centered process. The library service enriches the quality of the learning process.

History of Development:

       The library was first housed in building of the Ajara High School (10” X 10” room) later on the independent library building was constructed to provide better facilities for the increasing student strength. The building was constructed with the UGC financial assistance.

 Infrastructure facilities:

 The library is well furnished. It is designed to provide comfortable reading accommodation with abundant light, fresh air and serene atmosphere. The area of the library is 191.25 sq.m. Our college library has 30596 books and subscribes 54 Periodicals and 05 Newspapers. Library is fully computerized and users (teachers & students) get the information on computer terminals about books and periodicals.
The College has facilities of e-resources of INFLIBNET-N-LIST. Through these facility 6292 e-journals & 1,35,809+ e-books are available to stakeholders
     The library followed D.C.C. Scheme for classification and AACR II. systems for cataloguing.

Description of Library Automation :

Computerization of library has become a pre requisite in the presentworld of information technology. In the year 2013, NewGenLib software was installed for library management. This is Open source software having Acquisition, Circulation, Cataloguing, Periodical Management, Stock verification, Report, OPAC- Online Public Access Catalogue etc. In library LAN is maintained with 1 server & 4 PCS. Apart from this there are five computers in the library for students with internet facility. OPAC and Web-OPAC facility is available. All the house hold activities are done with the help of computers. There is barcode printer and barcode reader. There are CCTV cameras in the library. There is a digital collection of old photos and newspaper clippings.

Working Hours:

Library Time-7.30 am. To 4.00 pm. (Monday to Saturday):

The circulation counter remains closed on all Sundays and National holidays. The reading hall and Periodical Section remain closed on selected national holidays.
The library is proud of having many rare collections, especially in languages – research articles, thesis, dissertation of our staff and authors in the Ajara area.

Library Committee:

The library committee is constituted by the Principal at the beginning of each academic year. Its main objective is to be an academic supplementary body along with the library staff. The committee normally consists of the Principal and four staff members representing different faculties of the college and one students’ representative.
